INTRODUCTION

Carlton Packaging LLP is committed to eliminating the risk of forced labour and human trafficking occurring in our direct operations and supply chain and we welcome the requirements set out in the UK Modern Slavery Act. We will continue to comply with the legislation and ensure our culture and actions reflect a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. Carlton does not tolerate child labour in line with the 1933 Children & Young Person Act.

Our business is made up of one administration centre in Bedford, UK and storage and distribution in UK, France, and Germany. Our external supplier network is predominantly based within the EU region with some supplies being sourced from Asia and USA. Our Purchasing team coordinate the suppliers and maintain social audits on suppliers outside of the EU region. To do this, we utilise the services of the following companies: Asia Quality Focus (AQF) & QIMA who monitor social audits on our behalf.

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another person in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain. Slavery, servitude and forced labour are to be interpreted in accordance with Article 4 of the Human Rights Convention.

Carlton Packaging has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and child labour both within the business and within its supply chain.

Carlton Packaging respects fundamental human rights and is committed to the principles set out in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We support and respect the protection of human rights within our sphere of influence, in particular the effective elimination of compulsory labour and child labour. We expect the same high standards from all of our contractors, suppliers and other business partners.

As a business Carlton Packaging maintains relationships with many different organisations in its supply chain, as well as directly employing numbers of people locally. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains. With the procedures we have in place, Carlton recruits with integrity and holds audits on organisations it comes in touch with to ensure that child labour is not within the company.

Our Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy governs our approach to modern slavery in our own and in our supplier’s businesses. It underpins our approach and is used to inform our annual statement on slavery and human trafficking.

OUR COMMITMENTS

We require all individuals, entities, agents or anyone acting on the company’s behalf to comply with our various policies which are supported and approved by our Board of Directors.

Our employees are governed by the Employee Handbook which provides a guide to legal and ethical responsibilities and points them to the information and the resources needed to exercise sound decision making on the job. Employees are required to be familiar with the Code and all Company policies, to apply them every day and ask questions if they are ever unsure of the correct action to take. This can be referred to on our BREATHE portal.

RECORD

Carlton policies and checks have revealed no evidence of Human Slavery, Trafficking or Child Labour in our company, supply chain or service providers from the date of this legislation until the present day.
