Carlton Packaging Aims Low

In one of the first facilities of its kind, Carlton Packaging has been fitted out this week with eight new EV charge points for charging company vehicles at its new distribution centre in Tongwell, Milton Keynes.

It all started back in January 2016 with Milton Keynes becoming one of four Go Ultra Low cities in the UK – Nottingham, Bristol and London being the others – and achieving a government grant to encourage the use of EV’s in the city. The City council are promoting the use of EV’s and offering grants to assist with charge points at commercial premises. This fitted in well with Carlton’s environmental policy and the requirement to reduce emissions which has led us to replace many of our vehicles over the last 12 months with low emission EV’s. The application took quite a few months to process but now the charge points are here, an excellent addition to the facilities we offer our staff and no doubt the first of many in MK.

Milton Keynes also offers 15,000 free parking spaces around the city centre to registered EV’s, what a great place to do business and visit the city!

The government is investing £600 million in cleaner greener vehicles by 2020 and we are really pleased to be part of this project.
